Paul L Jones

Paul L. Jones, 71, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away at 9:31 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in his residence. Paul was born on February 8, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana, to Leland and Margaret (Grose) Jones, who both preceded him in death.

Paul was an accomplished trumpet player, the featured performer with Marge Dudeck at the Round Oak in Dowagiac, Michigan. He also traveled the country in various bands. Paul became an educator for the South Bend Community Schools and instilled in his students the love of music. In addition to Paul’s love of music, he also enjoyed fishing, golfing, cooking, gardening, home improvement, and teaching others his areas of expertise.

When Paul sees his former students, they are excited to see him and tell him about what they remember about him. Paul viewed the world uniquely and enjoyed entertaining and making other people laugh. He was unapologetically himself and was spontaneous, and you never knew what to expect. Paul was fond of dad jokes if you have any funny ones to share, please share them with others you love.

On June 28, 2014, Paul married Christine L. McClure. Christine survives along with Paul’s two daughters, Jessica (Ryan) Steinke-Jones and Melissa (Glenn) Pasley, two stepchildren, Tam Schwager and Andriano Schwager, and two grandchildren, Oliver Steinke and Oakley Steinke.

Cremation will occur with a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, at Bremen Cemetery in Bremen, Indiana. Chaplain Trevor Foley will officiate the services.
