Pearl M (Bean) Stokes

On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Pearl M. Stokes passed away with the comfort of her family by her side at the age of 89 at Millers Merry Manor in Culver. Pearl was born on February 11, 1933 in Elkville, IL, to the late Marion Bean and Daisy Carnahan. She had nine brothers and sisters who preceded her in death; Elsie McCaslin, Bonnie Spiller, Ruby Foster, Marion, Audie, Floyd E., James, Thomas & Kenneth Bean. In young adulthood, she moved to Lakeville, IN, where she met and married Morris W. Stokes Sr. on October 19, 1951, they had five children together.  Morris preceded her in death on March 7, 2006.

Pearl retired after 20 years of service at Easy Heat and 10 years at the Homestead Shop in LaPaz. Above all, she loved sitting by the lake, eating good food, spending time with her family, and praising the Lord. She was known for her loving and caring spirit and always started playing Christmas music on Halloween.

Pearl will be greatly missed by her surviving family including daughters Kathryn J. Stokes of Plymouth and Shelley A. (Deno) Vidmar of Lakeville; sons, Morris W. (Paula) Stokes, Jr. of Mishawaka, Thomas (Tammy Tyler) Stokes of Plymouth, and David A. Stokes of South Bend; and her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Pearl’s life will take place at the Palmer Funeral Home within the Palmer Community Complex of Lakeville, IN on October 29, 2022. Friends are welcome to visit with the family beginning at 10:00am and funeral services will begin at 11:00am.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Pearl M. Stokes may be donated to The Parkinson’s Foundation or The Center for Hospice.
