Peggy Casner Obituary

Peggy Marie (Head) Casner, age 66, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 5,
2026, in the city where she was born and spent much of her life. She was born on September 25,
1959, and carried with her a quiet strength and gentle spirit that those who truly knew her will
remember fondly.
Peggy was a very private woman, content in the simple comforts of home and the small joys that
brought her peace. She found happiness sitting with a good suspense novel, especially those by
John Grisham and James Patterson, losing herself in a carefully woven mystery. Her hands were
rarely still, often busy crocheting something made with patience and care. She also delighted in
classic cartoons, finding comfort and joy in familiar favorites like Chip and Dale: Rescue
Rangers and Scooby-Doo.
Above all, Peggy loved her family in her own quiet, steady way. She is survived by her children:
Tammie Brock of South Bend, Indiana; Yvonnea Newman of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Jason
(Valerie Dubay) Head of Dryden, Michigan; and Nathan (Crystal) Smith of Yoncalla, Oregon.
She leaves behind a growing legacy of love in her twelve grandchildren and many great-
grandchildren.
Peggy is also survived by her sisters, Linda (George) Cooper of Killen, Alabama, and Patricia
(Kenny) Jackson of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents
Katherine (Maike) Creech and Richard Head; her beloved husband, Harry Casner; and her
brothers, Raymond Head, Richard Head, and Randall Head.
Peggy’s final arrangements will be handled through direct cremation. In keeping with her private
nature, and with thoughtful consideration for family members facing recent losses, distance, and
the demands of everyday life, a memorial gathering will be held later this summer. The gathering
will take place near the time of the family reunion which she loved attending so much, allowing
loved ones the opportunity to come together, remember Peggy, and honor her life in a more
meaningful and manageable way. Details will be shared with family as plans are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist the family with final expenses.
Peggy will be remembered not for being loud or showy, but for her gentle presence, her love of
stories, and the quiet ways she showed she cared.

Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
