Phyllis Joan (Smith) Benjamin’s life began on February 20,1928 and ended on July 14, 2022. She was the only daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Clarissa Smith. She was united in marriage to Robert A. Benjamin on June 14, 1952, who preceded her in death in 1969.
Phyllis graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1947 without missing one day of school during the four years. She retired from Gurley Leep Imports in her 80’s after working there for 30 years.
In her later years, Phyllis’s hobby was making wood crafts and entering craft shows on weekends. After retiring, she enjoyed attending the monthly MHS Alumni luncheons with her friends. She attended Gospel Center Missionary Church in South Bend for most of her life.
Her loving family includes her sons; Bob, of Culver, Indiana, Tom (Kimberlyn) of Canton, Michigan; brother, Charles Jr. (Barb) of Mishawaka; and sister-in-law Theresa (Bill) Dill of Mishawaka. Phyllis was also blessed with eight beloved grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her brothers: Eldon, James, and Kenneth, all predeceased her.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN 46545. Visitation will be from 12:00pm – 2:00 pm prior to the service.
