Phyllis Kubsch Singleton Obituary

Phyllis Ann Kubsch Singleton (Bauer), age 96, passed away peacefully at her home on June 9, 2026. She was born on June 14, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late George Bauer and Helen (Lemon) Henderson.

Phyllis is survived by her three sons, Lawrence (Cherie) Kubsch of South Bend, Indiana, Steven (Karen) Kubsch of Granger, Indiana, and Kevin (Judith) Kubsch of Lakeville, Indiana. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Singleton and Lawrence Kubsch; her parents; her son, Thomas Kubsch; and one grandson David Kubsch.

Phyllis was a lifelong member of St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, where she dedicated countless hours volunteering with the food pantry and funeral luncheon ministries. Her faith, generosity, and commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on her church community. In her younger years, Phyllis loved spending time dancing at the lake.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing euchre and bridge and treasured the friendships those activities brought her. As many who knew her would say, she was a true “Dogpatcher,” proudly carrying the spirit of the neighborhood where she lived. Above all else, Phyllis deeply cherished her grandchildren and family. She was loving, kind, and giving to her core, always putting the needs of others before her own.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Janet Stephens, whose care, compassion, and dedication to Phyllis exceeded all expectations. Her kindness brought great comfort to both Phyllis and her family, and they will be forever grateful.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16 2026 from 11 AM - 1 PM at St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 PM. Phyllis will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church or the Christ Child Society.

Phyllis's legacy of faith, service, love, and devotion to family will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
