Rachel Delois Dillard Obituary

Rachel Delois Dillard, a cherished matriarch, and beacon of love and faith, passed away at 8:30 pm on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in her daughter's home. Born on January 30, 1951, in Niles, Michigan, Rachel was a daughter to the late Walter Sr. and Rosie Lee (Moffitt) Gregory. She was the beloved wife of the late Willie Dillard, with whom she shared a life until his passing.

Rachel's life was a testament to her strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her family. She was a devoted mother to Dana (Terry) Gregory-Jones, Octavia Gregory, Marcus Gregory, and Nakeya (Steve) Francis. Her love knew no bounds, and it extended to her adoring grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Rachel's siblings, Dorothy Griffin, Beverly Gregory, Edith Sey, Walter Gregory, Jr., and Doneal Gregory, will remember her as a guiding force, a confidante, and a source of endless support.

Throughout her life, Rachel found joy and purpose in her work at Woodwind and Brasswind, where she meticulously picked musical instruments for shipping. Her passion for life was evident in her hobbies, which included interior designing, gardening, and fashion. Rachel had a knack for transforming spaces into beautiful, welcoming environments and could often be found tending to her garden or crafting the latest trends into her wardrobe.

Rachel's love for travel was fulfilled on cruises, where she relished the opportunity to indulge in the buffet before taking a well-deserved nap. Shopping was not just a pastime for Rachel; it was therapeutic. She could shop the entire day, finding joy in each purchase and the experience itself. Above all, Rachel was a dedicated worshiper and servant of God for 24 years, she served at River of Life Family Church, pouring out her heart in prayer and support for others. Her faith journey continued at her new church home, Jesus is Emmanuel, where she remained a steadfast  figure in the congregation. Rachel's spiritual leadership extended to her home, where she hosted a house church, welcoming all who sought fellowship and guidance.

Rachel's legacy will be honored at her funeral services, which are scheduled for 12 noon on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Kingdom Impact CC Church, located at 2404 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628, where family and friends may begin gathering at 11 am. Rachel will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, leaving behind a trail of memories and a family that will forever cherish her memory.
