Ralph J Long

Ralph J. Long, 90 years old, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 6:02 p.m.  He was born in South Bend on December 18, 1930 to the late Chester J. and Elizabeth E. (Warner) Long.  He was a U.S. Army Corporal Veteran serving in the Korean War.  Ralph worked as a Regional Manager of Standard Federal Bank.  On October 8, 1960 in Plymouth, IN he was united in marriage to Vernalee Bickel who survives.

Along with his wife, Ralph is survived by his daughter, Susan Peters of Elkhart, and son, James Long of Indianapolis.  He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Chantel and Nicole and six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Coryell.

Over the years Ralph enjoyed golfing and going fishing on Lake Michigan.  He was a member of the St. Joseph Lodge #45 F. & AM., and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. 

Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN 46614.
