It has been close to 10yrs now since you were called home Peppie. Trying to explain what your entire family has felt not having you here with us is absolutely impossible to put it into words. You were a different breed and most importantly the type of man that everybody wants as a leader, an anchor, the glue that keeps a family together by showing every member what is important in life and when you spoke people listened because your words always came from your heart whether it was good or bad and very rarely was it ever the latter. You were more than a Grandfather to me and through all my mistakes growing up you always found a way to teach me with love even when a lot of times I may not have deserved that. You stayed in my corner as the best cut man possible and you always made sure I was good to fight another round. Your final days broke my heart and when people thought you were unable to see or hear it seemed different when I came around. Trying to thank you for all you did for me while you lay in a hospital bed knowing your end was upon us and yet you still found the energy and still your personality shined through when you gave me the Hand Gesture and the look telling me to shut up and don’t mention it as if that was the last damn thing you wanted to talk about. My love and respect for you is unmeasurable then and even more so now. You and mammaw were my best friends, you both always showed my friends the same love and they all still talk of you like you were their Mammaw and Peppie as well. I know where you are and eventually I will see you again and most of all I look forward to the lovely scoldings that you will have for me when that time comes. I love you and think of you daily and somedays it’s probably more like Hourly. See you in the next phase Sir!! J. Snead
