Rev. Jay Royal Kline Jr., 80, of Mishawaka passed away on Sunday January 22, 2023 at Memorial Hospital- South Bend.
Jay was born in Syracuse, Indiana on March 30, 1942 to the late Jay R. Kline, Sr. and Mildred (Gilbert) Kline.
On June 15, 1963, Jay was united in marriage to Shirley (Silvers) Kline, who preceded him in death on September 28, 2006. Jay found love again when he met Joann Ford and the two were wed on February 21, 2009; spending 13 years together before her passing on May 23, 2022.
Jay proudly served our country in the United States Army. He retired in 2003 after 30 years as Quality Control for AM General Corporation. He coached and managed NW Little League, he worked at the Key Shop in downtown South Bend, and he was very involved with his church.
Jay is survived by his daughter, Cassandra (Timothy Buchanan) Lewis of South Bend and her children; Jessica, Daniel, and Mackenzie Lewis, and his son, Robby (Jacki) Kline of Mishawaka and their daughter, Emilee (Seth) Koszyk as well as great granddaughter, Ryleigh Koszyk. Also surviving is Jay’s sister, Nancy Swihart and brother, David Kline; both of Syracuse, Indiana.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Kline, wife Joann Kline, parents, and his sister Ruth Pounds.
Funeral services for Jay will be held 5:00 p.m. Monday January 30, 2023 at the South Bend United Pentecostal Church; 4609 Ironwood Dr. South Bend. Visitation will be held in the church beginning at 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association-Northern Indiana, the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association. Palmer Funeral Homes-River Park Chapel is assisting the family.
