Richard R. Brewer Jr. 

Richard R. Brewer Jr., 47 of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 7:00 am Saturday, February 17, 2018 in his residence.  On September 12, 1970, he was born in South Bend to Richard R. and Dorothy J. (Davis) Brewer Sr.  He was united in marriage to Tina LaVine on September 19, 1992 in South Bend, who survives.  

A lifetime resident of South Bend, he attended Ivy Tech, studying in heating and cooling and also welding.  Richard worked for Manchester Tank, Elkhart for eighteen years, starting out in general labor and working up to tool and die maintenance. He then worked for Global Parts Network as maintenance and floor supervisor.  Richard was the only employee still working at Global since it opened in 2011.  His boss Gene Mills described Richard as his “Go to Guy” and his “Book of Knowledge”. He was an avid bowler at Joey Armadillo’s Bowling alley.  He never missed a swap meet with his father and loved working on antique cars.  He and his father built his own rat rod which was a 1937 Ford Pickup that he liked to refer to as “The Frankenrod”.  He loved hosting and attending Michigan Wolverines football parties with his close​​ friends and was a rollercoaster junkie. 

Richard is survived by his wife of twenty five years, Tina Brewer, South Bend; daughter, Alyssa Brewer, South Bend; father, Richard R. Brewer Sr., Niles, Michigan; two sisters, Dawn Brewer, Bremen and Kristi Davis, Bremen; and his mother-in-law, Reva Miller, South Bend.  He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.  Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy J. Davis and his step father, Kenneth Davis. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46615, with Rev. Don Francis officiating.  Visitation hours will be from 3:00 – 6:00 pm Friday, February 23, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home, River Park Chapel.
