Richard E. Jackson

Richard E. Jackson, 91, of LaPaz, IN passed away on July 15, 2017 at Healthwin Specialized Care Center, South Bend, IN.   He was born on May 30, 1926 In South Bend, IN to the late Bert M. and Marjorie (Reasor) Jackson. 

Richard is survived by his daughter, Karen (Larry) Long of Goshen, IN; sons, Tim (Robin) Jackson of Portage, MI and Jeffrey L. Jackson of IN; stepson, Scott (Marsha) McCartney of Plymouth, IN; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and sister, Joan Orr of South Bend, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Violet Mae Jackson; son, Richard A. Jackson; sister, Gwen Cutter and former wife, Shirley Jean Thomas.

Richard was a lifelong resident.  He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II as a machinist mate.  Richard worked in the South Bend area in automotive sales and service until his retirement.  He also owned a diner in LaPaz and was a member of the LaPaz Fire Department, as a volunteer firefighter and dispatcher.

A Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at  LaPaz Fire Department, 411 S. Michigan St. LaPaz, IN 46536. Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville is assisting the family.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services.
