Richard Overmyer

Richard Overmyer, 91 years old, a resident of South Bend, passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 14, 2021 surrounded by his family.  Richard was born on September 27, 1929 in South Bend to the late Ethel Juhasz and Guy Overmyer.  On January 19, 1974 he was united in marriage to Ella May Gary who preceded him in death in 2010.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Kathy Carter of Port Richey, FL, and Beth Krom of South Bend, along with seven grandchildren, Tracy, Adam, Melissa, Jonathon, Ashley, and Daniel and nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Ariel, Ellissa, Atlanta, Hunter, Adam, Abel, Alan, and Nevaeh.  He was preceded in death by his daughters, Diane Overmyer, Lori Lewis, son, Richard Jerry Overmyer, granddaughter, Stacy Renee Carter and grandson, Vince Overmyer and brother, Louis Overmyer.

Richard worked as a painter for the South Bend Community School Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1992.  He was an active member of the First Brethren Church in South Bend, and loved to play golf at Whispering Pines.

Services for Mr. Overmyer will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Homes – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN 46614 with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.  Friends my visit with the family on Monday, January 25, 2021 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
