Robert Drevs Obituary

Robert Anthony Drevs passed away peacefully on October 29, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 6, 1945, in Chicago, Bob was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University. His lifelong dedication to teaching enriched the lives of countless students who were fortunate to learn under his guidance. His passion for education and commitment to his students left an enduring impact within the university community.

Bob honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. His dedication and bravery during his time in service left a deep devotion to resilience and duty, qualities that he exemplified throughout his life.

After his military service, Bob pursued a dedicated career in academia as a professor of marketing at St. Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame. He was known not only for his expertise but also for his genuine interest in his students' success, becoming a beloved mentor and favorite teacher to many graduates. Bob’s passion for teaching and his impact on countless lives stand as a proud legacy, cherished by his students and colleagues alike.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Rosemary Drevs and brother Walter Gregory. He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret; his sister Carol, his children, Kathryn and John; his daughter-in-law, Leigh Ann; and his cherished grandchildren, Josephine and Jack. He embraced his role as the patriarch of the Drevs family with pride and love, leaving a lasting legacy that lives on in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

A memorial mass will be held on November 4 at 9:30 am at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. Following the service, the family invites all who knew Bob to join in a celebration of his life at Morris Inn. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Northern Indiana Food Bank.
