Robert Dale Holmes

Robert “Bob” Dale Holmes, 87 years old, passed away at 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at his home in North Liberty with his loving daughters by his side. Bob was born on July 19, 1933 in North Liberty to the late Alto and Ida (Baumgartner) Holmes.  He has remained a lifelong resident.  Bob worked for Wheelabrator for 25 years.  After retirement, he was in custodial for John Glen High School.  Bob proudly served in the United States Army.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Sherry (Timothy) Mathews of South Bend and Jackie Bregenzer of South Bend; six grandchildren, Shelly Banke, Susan Manley, Michael Mathews, Tiffany Birk, Stephanie Nickerson, and Tyler Bregenzer; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.  Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Lynn Stabnik; son, Robert Brian Holmes; sister, Carol Agee; and three brothers, Alto Jr., Jack, and John Holmes.

A military graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.  Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty, is assisting the family.
