Robert J. Krege

Robert J. Krege, of South Bend, IN passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born on July 4, 1941 in LaPorte, IN to the late Paul and Bernice (Ribordy) Krege. In 1961, Bob married Barbara Hawkins, who preceded him in death in 1998.

In his early 20’s, Bob worked for Ball Band, where he miraculously survived a chemical explosion, which left 75% of his body burned. Bob also worked as a truck driver in the RV industry. Bob had a gift for gab, and he never met a stranger. He was a member of the Elks Club, where he loved to socialize and dance. Bob was also proud to have been born on the 4th of July. Those who knew him would say that he was a firecracker all his life.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Ann (Pat) Alford of Granger, IN and Beth (Matt) Sanford of South Bend, IN; his son, Robert Moore of Lancaster, PA; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, L Paul and Bernice Krege; his sons, Tony and Tom Krege; and his brother, Paul Krege.

Friends may call on the family on Friday, January 28 from 11:00am-1:30pm at Palmer Funeral Home-Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, IN 46545, with services beginning at 1:30pm. Father Jim Fenstermaker will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
