Robert Oscar Page, 87, of Granger passed away at 6:33 p.m. Sunday, June 20th in his residence following an illness. Bob was born April 21, 1934 in Guilford, ME to the late Kathleen (Green) and Dana Page and lived the majority of his adult life in the Michiana area.
He married the former Martha J. Bornemann who preceded him in death in 2019. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ema J. Page. He is survived by two sons, Michael P. Page (Susan) of Ft. Wayne, IN and Corbin D. Page (Jeannette) of Edwardsburg, MI and a daughter, Valerie B. Bartlett of South Bend; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Lindsey of Elkhart, IN and Nancy Whiteman of Plymouth, IN; and a sister-in-law, Mary Dull of Syracuse, IN.
It was a great source of pride and honor that he was able to serve his country in the Korean War. He served in the United States Navy as a radioman on the USS Wasp, an aircraft carrier, for four years. The Navy took him all over the world as a young man, forever changing the trajectory of his life.
Bob worked for Bornemann Products, Inc. as a newly married man for his father in law, M.G. Bornemann, in Bremen, Indiana before moving his family to Fort Wayne, IN where he worked for several years as a manufacturing supervisor for the General Electric Company. Upon his move back to the Michiana area, he continued his work as a supervisor at the Bendix / Honeywell Corporation. After he retired, he spent many happy years restoring and repairing bicycles. Always rooting for the home teams, he was a devoted Cubs and Notre Dame fan.
Our father was one of the good guys. He was a truly nice man who had something good to say about everyone he crossed paths with. He never hesitated to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. He always made us laugh and smile. He was fun and a joy to be around. We will miss him everyday. His impact is lasting and will be felt for the rest of our lives. While it is difficult to let him go, we rest easy knowing he is in a much better place with our mother. She was the love of his life. We are so thankful and blessed we had the time with him that we did.
