Robert Schau Obituary

Robert “Bob” Dean Schau, 83, of Malabar Florida formally of Galien Michigan, passed away on November 30th, 2025, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and friendship that touched countless lives. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandpa of ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, cherished brother and uncle, and a loyal friend to many.

Bob was a 1st Cavalry Vietnam veteran. He spent 33 years working for Conrail Railroad, retiring after a long and dedicated career.  He began as an engineer and advanced into a leadership role as a road foreman, a path marked by his hard work and integrity. He also made a lasting impact as a football coach, where he shared not only his knowledge of the game but also his values—teamwork, discipline, and respect. Many remember him as a mentor who cared deeply about the people, he coached and worked with.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed golfing, playing cards and checkers, fishing, watching his grandchildren play sports, and cheering on his favorite football teams. More than his hobbies, he will be remembered for his warm smile, friendly nature, and genuine interest in others. Bob always had time to listen, help, or simply share a conversation, making everyone feel valued and welcome.

Kind to all and generous with his time, Bob lived a life centered on God, family, friendship, and service to others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maxine (Schau), and Harry Creevy; and his sisters Doris and Charlene.

He is survived by his wife, Peggie Schau; his sons, Aaron ( Hollee) Schau of Niles, MI;  Robert (Maria) Schau of Buchanan, MI; Chad (Jo) Schau of Berrien Springs, MI; and Brandon Schau of Malabar, FL; his daughter, Sara (the late Jeff Nemitz) of Bridgman, MI; his sister, Linda (Schau) McGuigan of Stevensville, MI; and his brothers, Allen (Lynn) Schau of Melbourne, FL, and Chris Schau of Galien, MI.
