Robert Errol Simmons

Robert Errol Simmons, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Golden Living Center—Fountainview in Mishawaka, IN. He was born on July 5, 1942 in Anderson, IN, to Robert G. Simmons and Myrtle (Hilbert) Simmons, both of whom preceded him in death.

Robert is survived by daughter, Beth A. (Ken) Underwood of O’Fallon, MO; son, Robert G. (Valerie) Simmons of South Bend; four grandchildren, Taylor Simmons, Kristy Underwood, Cashlyn Simmons, and Casey Simmons; and brother, Alan (Billie) Simmons of Anderson. In addition to his parents, Bob and Myrtle Simmons, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Kay Martin.

Bob was a 1960 graduate of Pendleton High School. After graduating from high school, Bob went on to Purdue University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education in 1966.

After graduating from Purdue University immediately went to work as an aerospace technician at Bendix, retiring in 1998 after 30 years of service.

Bob was an avid model airplane enthusiast. He started building and flying model airplanes at an early age. He carried this passion for model airplanes his entire life He was a member of the South Bend RC club for many years.

Memorial services for Robert will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, 211 E. State Street, Pendleton, IN 46064.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Robert may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
