Robert Joseph Truckowski, 72, passed away on May 27, 2026, at his home in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born on November 1, 1953, in St. Joseph County, Indiana, and lived a life marked by hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of country living.
Robert was the son of the late Casimir Truckowski and the late Rose (Severa) Truckowski. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Glenn Osmon, and many lifelong friends he called family. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brenda Truckowski of Mishawaka. He also leaves behind his son, Bobby (Hollie) Truckowski; and their two daughters, Leah and Severa; his daughter, Shirley (Casey) Yates; their son, Eli; his sister Carol Osmon; and his brother, Charlie Truckowski.
Robert attended Penn High School, class of 1972 where he wrestled and played football. He spent more than 25 years working as a carpenter with Local 413. While working as a carpenter, he also spent 16 years bartending at De Cooks Inn (Mishawaka, IN) where his friendly nature and easy conversation made him a familiar and welcome presence.
Robert enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish, play guitar, and go mushroom hunting. He especially treasured his time spent with his many friends at his annual “Polock Open” on Eagle Lake (Decatur MI). He loved his cows and the land he was raised on where he found satisfaction in the daily work and quiet rhythms of the farm.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is honored to be assisting the family with final arrangements.
