Rod Bendit Obituary

Rod A. Bendit, 63, of Maricopa, AZ passed away in his home on March, 14, 2026.  He was born to Donald and Margaret Bendit in Mishawaka, IN on October 2, 1962.

He was with the love of his life Bernadette (Fitts) Bendit since 2018 and they were married on April 14, 2023.

Rod spent his years in Indiana and Illinois prior to relocating to Arizona with his love, Bernadette, in April of 2020.

Rod was a Fleet Manager for Utility Distribution for over 30 years before he retired in 2025.  Prior to his career as a Fleet Manager, he worked for his stepdad in the Construction Industry.

Rod loved watching NASCAR and his Notre Dame and Chicago Bears football teams.  He loved rock n roll and music was a part of everyday life for him and his wife.  He enjoyed the Arizona sunshine and sitting by the pool.

He loved all 5 of his fur babies and had no problem being the Crazy Cat dad.

He loved his new friends that became family in his new neighborhood and made some of the best friends he had in life.

He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Bendit, his daughter Alexa Bendit, his step son Cody Fitts and wife Kelsey, step brother Keith Bernicky and wife Nancy and grandchildren Oliver and MacKenzie Fitts.

He is proceeded in death by his mother Margaret Bernicky, Stepdad, Jim Bernicky and Bernadette’s son Keith Fitts.

A celebration of life for Rod and Martie will be held from 1pm-3pm on Saturday April 25, 2026, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend.  A prayer will end the celebration of life and internment of Martie will follow at Ferrisville Cemetery, Mishawaka.
