Rodney John Pershing, 65, of Granger, Indiana, passed away March 6, 2026, at his home.
Rodney was born December 31, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana, to Mitchell G. Pershing and Jacqueline M. (Banner) Pershing.
On May 22, 1982, Rodney married the love of his life, Karen L. Ullery. Together they built a life centered around family and shared many years of marriage. From their union they welcomed their son, Keith A. Pershing of Granger, Indiana, who survives.
Rodney is also survived by his wife, Karen L. Pershing; mother, Jacqueline M. Pershing; his sister, Michele (Thomas) Bates of South Bend, Indiana; his mother-in-law, Loretta M. Ullery; along with extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell G. Pershing and his father-in-law, Duane E. Ullery.
Rodney had a passion for racing and enjoyed all forms of motorsports, with drag racing holding a special place in his heart. He also found great enjoyment in woodworking, creating projects with care and skill. Spending time watching the birds with his mother gave him special joy. In recent years, he enjoyed relaxing at home watching his favorite television game shows.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, Rodney will be cremated. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday March 20, 2026, from 6:00–7:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel in South Bend, Indiana, with a memorial service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Luminary Hospice or the family to help with medical expenses.
