Roger A. Day Jr.

Roger A. Day Jr., 66, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in South Bend, IN.

Born on December 18, 1959, in the Bronx, New York, Roger was the son of Roger Day Sr. and the late Dorothy (Cerracchio) Day. He grew into a man known for his unwavering work ethic, kind heart, and ability to brighten every room he entered. Roger spent most of his career working in logistics and distribution, where he earned the respect of coworkers and employers alike through his reliability, dedication, and willingness to always go the extra mile.

Roger shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Judy (Hanna) Day. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Judy; his three cherished children, Trevor (Darrin Goins) Day of New York, New York, Carly Day of South Bend, Indiana, and Zoie Day of Milford, Connecticut. He is also survived by his father, Roger (Mary Foster) Day Sr.; siblings, Gina (Robin) Robbins of Anchorage, Alaska, Eric (Brenda) Day of Guyton, Georgia, and Lisa Day of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and beloved dogs, Rigby and Gracie Day. Along with his mother, he is also predeceased by his nephew, Alex Robbins. A devoted family man, he took great pride in being a loving Uncle and Great-Uncle. His nieces and nephews brought immense joy to his life, and he always treasured his time with them.

Roger had a gift for making friends wherever he went, he truly never met a stranger. His warm personality, infectious smile, and colorful sense of humor left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He found great joy in music, spending time with family, and making memories at the lake, especially at Magician Lake. Family adventures often included long walks with the dogs, flying kites along the shores of Lake Michigan, and countless moments of laughter.

He was an avid sports fan who cheered faithfully for Indiana University, Notre Dame, and the Dallas Cowboys. Roger also loved NASCAR and made an annual tradition of attending the Indianapolis 500, beginning in 1983 with the same close-knit group of friends, creating friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.

A lifelong learner, Roger had a passion for history—particularly the adventures of Lewis and Clark—and was an enthusiastic reader who loved expanding his knowledge. He also enjoyed cooking and writing. Roger believed in seeing the best in people and approached life with optimism, generosity, and an adventurous spirit.

Those who knew Roger will remember a man who was always happy, always ready with a story, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His absence leaves the world a little less colorful, but his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614.
