Ronald Brantley Obituary

Ronald “Ronnie James” Brantley, 64, of South Bend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his daughter’s house in LaPorte.

He was born November 15, 1955 in South Bend, to the late Prentice Woods and Alberta (Wilson) Brantley.

He attended LaSalle High School, until he enlisted in the Marine Core in 1973. He proudly served as a CPL, where he received his Rifle Expert Badge and his National Defense Service Medal.  Ronnie James was honorably discharged in 1975. After his discharge, he worked at different factories around the South Bend area.

Ronnie James loved people and had a special love for music. Sam Cooke was his favorite music artist. He was a sharp dresser, with a hat and shoes to match every outfit. He often liked to show off his Martial Art moves and had a love for cooking. Most of all he had a love for God. He attended Christian Fellowship Worship Center in LaPorte.  Ronnie James touched so many people with his humor, he will be missed by many.

Surviving are his children, Jennifer (LaShawn) O’Neal of Laporte, Marquita Logan of South Bend, Roniesha Fountain of Cincinnati, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Jalaysia, LaShawn, Brandon, MarShawn, Syncer, Jershawna, Courtney, Kalayia, Desire, Destiny and Gerald; and one great-grandchild, Lailynn.  Also surviving are his two siblings, Robert (Vicki) Brantley Jr. of South Bend, and Nadine Lara of South Bend.
