Ronald Edward Dill, born September 30, 1961, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Ronald Elmer and Marylou (Smith) Dill, passed away September 23, 2023 surrounded by those he loved.
Ron played right offensive tackle at Worthington High School (Ohio) and Otterbein College (Westerville, OH) where he was also a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He once said, “I clear the path so others can do their job, I guess I’ve been doing that all my life.” Ron certainly cleared a path to success for his colleagues, wife, children, and friends.
For his colleagues at Kohl’s, Toys ‘R Us, Tech Data, Cequent, Horizon, and Ecolab, Ron took great pride and satisfaction in mentoring his colleagues and putting them in a position to succeed.
He thrived on finding innovative ways to streamline operations in the logistics space.
A devoted husband and father, Ron brought joy to his family through parody songs about his pet dogs, laundry parties, toe cap sock fights, homemade wines, and extravagant smoked meat dinners.
A man of God, Ron enjoyed volunteering with Grace UMC, Joliet, IL, Tracy UMC, Hamlet, IN and Evangel Heights UMC, South Bend, IN where he formed long lasting friendships.
Ron Dill is survived by his wife, Ann Kathryn (Rutter) Dill; his children George (Korena) Dill, Ian (Christina Clark) Dill, Carolyn Dill-Walenga, and Hannah (Jordan Saner) Dill; grandchildren Liam and Payton Walenga; sisters Carol Meehan, Nancy (Chuck) Curly and Linda (Mark) Egan. He also greatly treasured his many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A celebration of life will be held, Friday October 6th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Palmer Welsheimer Chapel 17033 Cleveland Ave. South Bend, Indiana.
Memorials may be sent on Ron’s behalf to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Cir, Joliet, IL 60431, Tracy Church, 1702 US-35, Hamlet, IN 46532 or Worth the Wait Charity, worththewaitcharity.
