Ronald Giordano Obituary

Ron Giordano, 73, of Granger, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026.

Born on May 26, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ron pursued a lifelong passion for learning and problem-solving. He earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University, followed by an M.S. at the University of Florida, where he met the love of his life, Cindi Donoho. Ron went on to complete his Ph.D. at Northwestern University, and he and Cindi were married on campus in the summer of 1979.

Ron and Cindi settled in Plano, Texas, where they built their life together over 46 years and raised their son, Michael. Professionally, Ron began his career at ARCO Oil and Gas Company before moving into international consulting, where he applied his knowledge and experience to projects around the world.

After retirement, Ron and Cindi moved to Granger, Indiana, to be close to their son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Caitlin, and grandsons Logan and Spencer.  He enjoyed watching his grandsons succeed both in the classroom and on the playing field.

Beyond his career, Ron had many passions. He was an avid photographer, always ready to capture moments both big and small, and he found joy in woodworking, creating pieces with care and craftsmanship.  He enjoyed playing squash, especially when Michael developed the skill to easily defeat him on the court.  At Northwestern, Ron learned to sail on Lake Michigan, crewing on a professor’s boat and later skippering the club’s boats.

Ron will be remembered for his intelligence, his curiosity, and his devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephanie Plocinik Giordano and Augustin Thomas Giordano.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Cindi; his son Michael and daughter-in-law Caitlin; his grandchildren Logan and Spencer; his brother Thomas Giordano (Chris) and sister Geraldine Giordano Hatch (Jim); many nieces and nephews; and many friends and colleagues who were touched by his kindness and sense of humor.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 N Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530.  Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, IN.  Friends may visit with family from 10:00 am until the start of Mass.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Michiana Woodturners Club, c/o Treasurer Joseph Kirk, 51815 Bonanza Dr., Granger, IN, 46530.
