Rosemary Bella, 91, residing in South Bend, passed away at 3:01 pm Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Elkhart Hospice House. She was born August 10, 1924 in Sturgis, MI to the late Owen and Hazel (Humphrey) Nichols.
Rosemary was a lifelong artist, interior decorator and designer. She worked for various photography studios and taught how to paint pastel portraits at the Battell Center, as painting was truly her passion. She lived most of her life in the South Bend area and was a member of the South Bend First Church of the Nazarene.
In 1940, in Howell, IN, Rosemary married Harold R. Wadsworth, who preceded her in death. In 1968, she married Andrew G. Bella, who also preceded her in death on September 8, 1997. Additionally, Rosemary was preceded by a stepson, Andrew C. Bella; a sister, Daisy Harris; and both of her brothers, Keith and Johnny Nichols.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Judy R. (Tom) Sneddon of Osceola; son, Rev. Richard H. (June) Wadsworth of Farwell, MI; stepdaughter, Rose (David) Mangus of Fayetteville, PA; stepson, Joseph (Lisa) Bella of Granger; grandchildren, Thomas A. (Deann) Sneddon, Douglas L. (Jeanette) Sneddon, Debbie (Todd) Emery and Phyllis (Todd) Beebe; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Tibbets of Des Moines, IA and Esther Vincent of San Antonio, TX; half-brother, Ivan (Coleen) Nichols of Colon, MI; and half-sisters, Violet (Gene) Baldwin and Dorothy Kauffman, both of Sturgis, MI.
Funeral services for Rosemary will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 19, 2015 in the South Bend First Church of the Nazarene, 51690 Ironwood Road, South Bend. Rev. Andy Lauer will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday, October 18, 2015 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend as well as one hour prior to services Monday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be donated to South Bend First Church of the Nazarene or Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Online condolences may be left for the Bella family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
