Professor Sabine G. MacCormack, 71, residing in South Bend, passed away at 4:10 pm Saturday, June 16, 2012 in Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 24, 1941 in Frankfurt, Germany.
Sabine is survived by one daughter, Catherine MacCormack of Ypsilanti, MI; and three sisters.
Sabine was a Professor of History and Classics at the University of Notre Dame, serving as The Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, CSC, Professor of Arts and Letters. She was also a Fellow of the Kellogg Institute. She attended St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend. She was beloved and respected by all who knew her here, and indeed all over the world.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Friday, June 22, 2012 in The Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
