Sally L. Hendricks, 94, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 4th, in her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Sally was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, and she left her mark on anyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her.
Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Hendricks, and her son, Lee Hendricks. She is survived by her daughters; Sara Hendricks-Pearson (Joe Pearson), Paula Hendricks, Natalie Hendricks, and Charlotte Swartz (Eric Swartz); grandchildren Lindsay Morrigan (Torrey Morrigan), Lauren Pearson, Ezra Lacina (Patti Lacina), Dylan Swartz, Connor Pearson, KJ Pozywio and Kyra Swartz; and great grandchildren Mickey Lacina and Liliana Lacina.
Sally was an active and devoted member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church. She taught art and ceramics at St. Joseph High School for over 20 years and was a dedicated member of the local art league. Sally earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington and her Master of Science degree from Indiana University South Bend. She was also a proud member of the Delta Gamma Social Sorority, MASC: Friends of the Snite Museum, and a charter member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
A true pillar of the South Bend community, Sally’s memory and legacy live on through her children, grandchildren, and the many students whose lives she touched through her teaching and art.
There is a memorial visitation planned for Sally on February 28, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a mass beginning at 12:00 PM, all at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church (54191 N Ironwood Rd, South Bend, IN 46635).
