Salvatore I. Valente

On the morning of April 29, 2021, Salvatore I. Valente, 77, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer while being comforted by family. Salvatore was born in Simbario, Italy, on June 12, 1943, to the late Domenico and Francesca (Timpano) Valente. He was preceded in death by siblings, Joe (Anna), Bruno, Dominic, Fortunato, Rosina, Vittoria (Rocco), and Maria.

Salvatore is survived by his daughter, Frances (Matthew Preston) Valente; son, Anthony Valente; brother, Rocco (Marianne) Valente; sisters-in-law, Santina Valente and Josephine Valente; brother-in-law, Frank Funaro; and many nieces and nephews.

Salvatore served honorably in the United States Army. He retired from IBM after 32 years of dedicated service.

Funeral services for Salvatore will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00am-1:00pm on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the funeral home prior to the service.
