Samuel Gary, a cherished son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 1, 1951, in Arkansas, Samuel was a man of integrity and strength, whose presence brought comfort and stability to all who knew him.
Samuel was the beloved son of the late Olivia (Gary) Allen and stepson to the late Joseph Allen. He was a guiding light in his family, and his wisdom will be deeply missed. Samuel leaves to cherish his memory his loving siblings; Charles Gary, Twila Taylor-Williams, Gwendolyn Gary, Terry Allen, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as lifeling friends, Fred McFarly, Lamont Newsom, and Ronnie More-Newsome. Samuel was preceded in death by his mother Olivia Allen and step-father Joseph Allen; his siblings Patricia Allen, Angela Allen, Thomas Gary and Terence Allen.
Samuel's passion for politics and current events was well-known among his friends and family. He had a keen understanding of the world around him and enjoyed engaging in thoughtful discussions. His insightful perspectives and willingness to listen to others made him a valued member of his community.
In his leisure time, Samuel could often be found reading the latest news articles or watching political debates. His love for knowledge and his desire to stay informed were traits that defined him. Samuel's interest in world affairs was not just a hobby but a testament to his commitment to being an informed and responsible citizen.
As we say goodbye to Samuel Gary, we celebrate a life-lived, life filled with hard work, intellectual curiosity, and a deep love for his family. His journey on earth may have ended, but his story will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of it. Samuel's memory will be treasured forever, and he will be profoundly missed by all who were honored to call him a friend, a brother, and a son.
Funeral services for Samuel will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 228 Chapman Ave, Elkhart, IN., 46616. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
