Sarah A. Hunter, of Mishawaka, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at her home peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 88.
She was born on August 25, 1934, in Kouts, IN to the late George and Olive (Goodpaster) Maul. She is preceded in death by her sons, Rickey and George Hunter, and sister, Lynn Heilman, brothers, Charles Maul and George “Corky” Maul.
Sarah is survived by her children, Charlie Hunter of Mishawaka, Ollie (David) Odell of Apple Valley, CA., Jimmie Hunter of Mishawaka, Tim Hunter of Mishawaka, Tammy (David) Davis of Osceola, Debbie (Don) Kaldahl of Lafayette, IN. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
There are so many ways to describe Sarah however her compassion, generosity and sense of humor stand out the most. She gave so much of herself to others. She loved people and had such a desire to do things for others. Those simple acts brought her so much joy. She would spend hours making blankets for family, friends, her neighbors and would donate to those in need, whether it be to nursing homes or to those at Logans Center. Over the years she enjoyed fishing, gardening and her dogs , but her greatest joy came from being with her family.
Funeral services for Sarah will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Monday, February 6, one hour prior to the service. Graveside services and burial will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
