Sharon L. (Osman) LaPara

Sharon Lynn LaPara (Osman), 78, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Walkerton, Indiana, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Sharon was born on March 21st, 1947, in Harrisburg, Illinois, where she spent her childhood as one of 7 children (Randle, Dean, Jack, Lindell, Wilma, and Hazel). 

In 1967, Sharon moved to South Bend, Indiana, where she married the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) LaPara in 1968. Sharon and Tom had their first child, Thomas LaPara II, on October 6th, 1969.  They were additionally blessed in 1973 with the arrival of Timothy LaPara (Kristin Shively) and in 1974 with Tina Lizzi (Mick Lizzi).

Tom and Sharon have 6 grandchildren: Juliana Lizzi, Francesco Lizzi, August LaPara, Ellaree LaPara, Sophia Lizzi, and Brock LaPara. Sharon volunteered as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for 14 years.

Sharon's hobbies included spending time with her children, traveling with her husband, and playing with her cats (Lola and Leo).  She also enjoyed various activities with her grandchildren, such as gardening, going to the zoo, and watching their various sports games. Sharon also loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley.

A visitation will be held for Sharon on Monday, February 16th, from 2-4 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main Street, North Liberty, Indiana. Her life will be celebrated with a Catholic mass at 11am on Tuesday, February 17th at Saint Patrick's Church, 807 Tyler St, Walkerton, Indiana.
