Shellie Rose Obituary

Shellie Jay Rose, 82, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away on Sunday July 18, 2021, at Briarcliff.

He was born on May 23, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska to S. Conwell Rose and Itras (Vestal) Rose. 

On November 28, 1982, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Lower, who survives.

Shellie was a successful business owner of Rose’s Food Equipment for 25 years. This allowed him to travel throughout the state of Indiana and Michigan. Aside from being a business owner, he was a sponsor for numerous athletic events. He also moved on to become a coach at St. Joseph County Special Olympics for 10 years. Known as Coach Shellie to many, he coached basketball, bocce, and corn toss. He had a big heart for the athletes and traveled to state games in Terra Haute where the athletes went on to win gold in several events. Shellie’s family was awarded family of the year. He was a member of the Northwest United Methodist Church and was a part of the men’s group. Shellie was in the Kiwanis club and Christian in Commerce with dear friends, Romney Ashton and John. Shellie loved all his friends where he lived in the Ahepa community.

In addition to his loving wife, Shellie is survived by his daughter, Teresa Cornelius of Plymouth, his stepdaughters, Rhonda Clifton of South Bend and Wanda Wilcox of Mishawaka; his son Sheldon Rose of Plymouth; three grandchildren, JeNell (Timothy Jr.) Roney, Victor Himes II, and Jeremie (Amanda) Himes; six great grandchildren, Gaven, HayLie, Hanna, Kaden, Keiara, MacKenzie, and close friends Jan Duttenhaver and John Williams.

Shellie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Sherman Rose.

Memorial services for Shellie will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at NW United Methodist Church 21855 Brick Road South Bend, IN 46628.  Memorial contributions may be given NW United Methodist Church or to Southern Care Hospice, 1626 E Day Road Mishawaka, IN 46545.
