Shirley Woods Obituary

Shirley Ann Woods, 90 years old, passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.  Shirley was born on December 8, 1930 in South Bend to the late Marvin and Neva (Heim) Kizer.  She has lived in Lakeville most of her life.  On May 13, 1952 in South Bend, Shirley and Robert K. Casad were united in marriage.  He preceded her in death.  On January 11, 1974 in South Bend, Shirley and Stanton Clay Woods were united in marriage.  He also preceded her in death.  Shirley retired from Burcliff Industries after 28 years of employment.  After retiring, she worked at Union-North United School Corporation at LaVille Elementary School for 10 years.  Shirley enjoyed playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends playing cards and attending musical performances.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Debra L. (Bill) Ferguson, Danny R. (Connie) Casad, and Douglas A. (Theresa) Casad, all of Lakeville; five grandchildren, Tonya Donahue, Troy Donahue, Denise Casad, Jason Casad, and Jeremy (Heather) Casad; and four great grandchildren, Madison, Blake, Liberty, and Camara.  She was preceded in death by her infant son, Larry Casad; and her sister, Connie Countryman.

A private visitation will be held at the Palmer Funeral Home in Lakeville, followed by a private graveside service at Southlawn Cemetery.  Pastor Vito Rulli will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Shirley A. Woods may be donated to American Diabetes Association, 55 E. Monroe Street, Unit 3420, Chicago, IL  60603.  Online condolences may be offered to Shirley’s family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
