Sonia Rochelle Miller

Sonia Rochelle Miller, 55 of Bruce, Mississippi passed away on July 17, 2019.  She was born in Bruce, Mississippi, on June 7, 1964, to Terry and Barbara Riley.  Mr. and Mrs. Riley had three daughters: Marsha, Sonia and Jessie Riley. 

Sonia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at an early age at the Lonoke Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas. She enjoyed singing in the choir and working in various ministries throughout her Christian walk.  She also ensured that all of her children had the opportunity to experience the wondrous glory of God.

Sonia attended Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas and transferred to Libbey High School in Toledo, Ohio. She previously studied and worked at the University of Notre Dame and she completed her Culinary Art Degree at Ivy Technical Community College of Indiana. 

Sonia was previously married to Percy E. Roberson Sr. in 1982 and from this union three children were born: LaTonya Denise, Percy Eugene Jr. and NeKisha LaCole Roberson.  While they were married, they traveled throughout many cities due to Percy’s military commitment. 

In 1996, while living in Clarksville, Tennessee, Sonia met and married Denny Miller.  Denny, Sonia and her three children relocated to South Bend, Indiana where they lived together until her husband, Denny, preceded her in death.

Sonia was preceded in death by her husband, Denny Miller; her father, Terry Riley; her father-in-law, Kenneth Miller Sr.; her sister, Jessie Johnson; and her grandchildren: Champion, Keron Odis, Percy III and Marcus Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Barbara Riley; her mother-in-law, Frankie Miller; her sister, Marsha Jackson; her brother-in-laws: Kenny (Selena), Matthew (Felisa) and James (Darlene); her children: LaTonya (Jerry) Reed, Percy Roberson Jr., NeKisha (Timothy) White, Egypt (Tasia) Miller, Allen Miller; and her stepchildren: Andrea, Christian, Matthew, Anthony and Jessica Miller.  Also left to cherish her memories are 17 grandchildren and a host of family, friends and loved ones.

Funeral services for Sonia will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Fellowship Ministry, 2301 W. Dubail Street, South Bend, IN 46613. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to services at the church. Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
