Sophie E. (Ogden) Nellis

Sophie E. Nellis, age 82, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at 6:11 am on Monday, May 25, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana.  She was born on April 10, 1938 in Gowanda, New York to Michael and Elizabeth (Stebenovich) Ogden, who preceded her in death.  After living in New York she moved to Chicago and then to South Bend in 1982.  On February 13, 1960 in North Collins, New York she married Charles Nellis, who survives. 

Along with Charles, her husband of 60 years; she is survived by two sons, Steven (Cheryl) Nellis and Scott Nellis; two granddaughters, Cortney Nellis and Melanie Nellis; and her sister, Ilene Poquadeck.  Her sister, Mary Denee, and brother, Thomas Ogden, both preceded Sophie in death.

Sophie was a homemaker and enjoyed shopping. She liked trying new restaurants and visiting her old favorites too.  Sophie’s house was always clean.  She put her family first. Every card she received she saved. 

There will be no services.  Palmer Funeral Home – River Park and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
