Stephanie Achterberg Obituary

Stephanie Rachel Achterberg passed away suddenly on May 19, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and countless memories that will forever be cherished.

Stephanie is survived by her loving daughter, Kelsey (Faith) Achterberg, who will continue her legacy of strength and perseverance; her cherished grandchildren, Gavin and Kendyle; and her siblings, Melissa, Justin, John, Jeremy, and Katharine (Nicholas). She was also deeply loved by her nieces and nephews: Alexis (Phoenix), Destaney, Brent (Alyssa), Kenton, Hunter, Keegan, Corbin, Charlotte, and Brinley. Stephanie also leaves behind her faithful dog, Royal.

Welcoming her into heaven are her parents, J. Kent and Victoria Achterberg; her grandparents, Anna Mae and John Achterberg and Stanley and Theresa Jasiewicz; along with several aunts and uncles.

Stephanie was born on September 19th, 1975, to J. Kent and Victoria Achterberg. She was raised in a loving and beautiful home alongside her five siblings, with whom she shared many fond memories throughout her life.

In October 1993, she welcomed her only child, Kelsey, into the world. Stephanie devoted her life to raising her daughter, and her love and legacy will continue to live on through Kelsey and her family.

She was a proud dog and cat mom over the years, welcoming many animals into her home. She most recently welcomed, Royal, her faithful companion and confidant.

Stephanie attended John Adams High School where she graduated in 1993. She later attended Indiana University South Bend, where she earned her associates degree in Paralegal Studies in 2011.

Stephanie spent several years working with the county city building, under various attorneys. She most recently worked with CASA, providing services to area youth as a program coordinator.

Family was at the center of Stephanie’s life. She cherished family bonfires, game nights, holidays and any opportunity to bring loved ones together. She was always looking for ways to incorporate family into every moment and create memories that would last a lifetime.

She was a friend to many and a lifeline to her family, always the first to offer support, guidance, and unconditional love. Stephanie’s light will continue to shine through all those who knew and loved her.
