Stephen T. Lane

Stephen T. Lane, 79 years old, passed away at 4:18 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.  Steve was born on November 30, 1946 in South Bend to the late William and Barbara “Jane” (Zimmer) Lane.  He has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend.  On September 22, 1984 in Kokomo, IN, Steve and the former Karen Pommert were united in marriage.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Karen; brother and sister-in-law, James and Debbie Lane of Elgin, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.  

Steve retired in 2009 from the South Bend Medical Foundation where he worked in the stockroom.  He was an avid golfer for over 50 years and also enjoyed watching the game of golf on television.  Steve was a Chicago Bears fan.  He proudly served his country with the United States Army and was a member of the North Liberty American Legion.  Steve attended North Liberty Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Military graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
