Stephenie Renee Bemis

Stephenie Renee Bemis, born on August 22, 1979, in South Bend, Indiana, passed away on June 10, 2026, in the same city, leaving behind a life remembered with love, warmth, and devotion.

Stephenie was the beloved daughter of Ella (Bruckner) Goebel and the late Steven J. Bemis she was Rraised by her late grandparents George and Helen (McCarty) Bemis they meant the world to her. She was a cherished mother to Mariah Norris and Ian Washington, and a loving sister to Tanya Acito, Amy Smith, and Adam Goebel. Her kids were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them and also other loved ones. Those who knew Stephenie will remember her as someone who cared deeply, and brought a special light into the lives of the people around her.

Stephenie attended Mishawaka High School and graduated with the class of 1997. She went on to continue her education at Ivy Tech Community College, where she earned two associate degrees, one in business and one in pharmacy technology. Her commitment to learning reflected her determination and her desire to build a meaningful life for herself and her children. She carried that same dedication into her work, first with the South Bend Tribune and later with Belmont Beverage, where she was known for her presence and her steady work ethic.

Stephenie had many interests that made her uniquely herself. She enjoyed playing with tarot cards and had a strong fascination with astrology. She liked watching documentaries or funny shows with her daughter Mariah and spending quiet moments exploring subjects that captured her curiosity. She enjoyed swimming and found joy in simple pleasures, especially when she was with her children. She loved angels and filled her home with angel decorations that reflected her spirit and the comfort she found in them. She also admired Marilyn Monroe and appreciated hertimeless style and presence. Stephenie enjoyed playing cards and games with her friends and family , and she especially liked going to the movie theatre late at night on Tuesdays with her sister Tanya or her son Ian . She was also known for her dislike of vegetables mainly onions , a detail that those close to her will remember with affection and a smile.

Stephenie will be remembered for her loving heart, her strong mother ties, and the many ways she expressed herself through her interests and the life she built. She leaves behind memories that will be treasured by all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, her family, and her friends.

A time to visit with the family will be Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A service will immediately follow starting at noon. All being held at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, IN 46545. Pastor Wyatt Smith will officiate the services. Procession to Fairview cemetery will follow the service.
