Steven A. Hardesty, 59 years old, went home to Jesus suddenly on Sunday morning, February 14, 2021 at his home. Steve was born on February 28, 1961 in Plymouth, IN to the late Robert E. and Virginia M. (Taylor) Hardesty. He has remained a lifelong resident.
Steve is survived by his two sons, Kyle (Sarah) Hardesty of Crown Point, IN and Derrick Hardesty of South Bend, IN. “Gramps” was deeply loved by his two grandsons, William and Bennett. Steve is also survived by his sister, Donna (Russell) Hardesty of Walkerton and his brother, Rick (Jodie) Hardesty of South Bend. Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Hardesty.
Steve was a 1979 graduate of John Glenn High School. Soon after, he began his 40+ year career as a second-generation union member with AM General. During his time there, he served as the Union Steward where he took great pride in representing his fellow union members within his department. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid gun collector but most of all; he found great joy by serving the people in his life. Loved by many, Steve was blessed to have an abundance of lifelong relationships and had the ability to make new friends feel like forever friends. Committed to those he loved; Steve made it a priority to spend quality time with family and friends alike. He was known for his willingness to lend a hand; make you laugh when you need it most and his generosity to complete strangers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Graveside services and burial will follow at Tyner Cemetery, Tyner, IN. Friends may visit with the family after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
