Susan Jean Ault

Susan Jean Ault, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 60, at Healthwin Health & Rehabilitation, South Bend, IN.  Susan was born on February 4, 1965, in South Bend.  Her first months of life required her to return often to the care of trained medical personnel.  She grew through her early challenges, becoming more self-aware and helpful to others.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Lee Ault and Lucille Louise (Kendziorski) Ault, and by her brother, Jeffery Alan Ault.

Susan leaves behind a brother, Lawrence N. Ault; sister-in-law, Linda Sue (Laughman) Ault; seven nephews; two nieces; and multiple great-nieces and great-nephews.

Susan had help and support throughout much of her life from LOGAN Center. From a young age, Susan was enrolled with LOGAN Center, who helped her communicate, grow and become a useful person by learning employable skills. She was involved with LOGAN for 40+ years as she developed and matured. Her time at LOGAN Spruce Group Home were some of the best times of her life.  Here, she learned new skills, learned self-discipline, learned how to share and showed her willingness to help and care for her roommates. This is where we saw Susan blossom as-a-rose. We, as a family, are so grateful to LOGAN and their people for helping Susan attain this individual growth, learning and caregiving. Due to medical issues, Susan spent her last years at Healthwin, where she made many friends and had some very fun experiences. Susan loved to color, to puzzle and listen to music, the louder the better.

As her family, we thank those who helped Susan throughout her life: LOGAN Center, Healthwin Health & Rehabilitation, Traditions Hospice, and for all the friends, medical, CNA and nursing people for their help and love that they have provided Susan.  

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00pm on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel. 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN. Family and friends may begin to gather at 6:00pm. Susan will be buried next to her parents in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
