Susan J. Eidem (Duckstad), 80, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband at her side on Monday, March 1, 2021. Susan was born November 12, 1940 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Walter and Ursula (Colton) Duckstad. On September 23, 1961 in St. Paul, Minnesota she was united in marriage to Daniel E. Eidem; this past September they celebrated 59 years of marriage together.
Susan graduated from Visitation High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, and studied education at the University of North Dakota. She and her husband Dan raised their two children, Amy and Ben, in several big cities (Minneapolis, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Detroit) as the children grew up. Wherever they were, Susan was the glue that held the family together. She was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to taking care of her family, and her family adored her. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than watching her grandchildren grow up and have children of their own; she was their biggest cheerleader. She will be remembered for her love for her family, friends, and her Savior most of all.
Along with her husband, Susan is survived by her daughter, Amy Elliott of South Bend, and son, Dr. Benjamin W. (Jori) Eidem of Rochester, MN. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Robbie (Jasmine) Elliott; Janey (Daniel) Hardesty, NP; Katie; Gannon; and Matthew Eidem. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Colton (C.J.), Delilah, Skylynn, and Mayah (M.J.), as well as her sister, Diane (Dick) Weber of Wausau, WI, and a host of extended family.
