Cassopolis, MI - Susie A. Riggs-Matamoros, 48, passed away at 7:35 pm Thursday, February 19, 2015 in Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles. She was born December 21, 1966 in South Bend to the late Phillip and Amelia (Winrott) Riggs. Susie lived in South Bend until 1997, when she relocated to Cassopolis.

On June 27, 1997 in South Bend, Susie married Enrique Matamoros Morales, who survives. She is also survived by daughters, Brittany Rosell of South Bend and Victoria and Brianna Matamoros Morales, both of Cassopolis; son, Enrique Matamoros Morales, Jr. of Cassopolis; and a granddaughter, Daire. She is also survived by siblings, Peggy Sherman, Barbara Riggs, Phyllis Murdick, Sally Riggs, Randy (Kim) Riggs, Jerry (Mel) Riggs, Gregory (Tammy) Riggs, Ricky Riggs and John (Pattie) Riggs, all of South Bend.

Susie attended John Adams High School. She was a waitress at The Barell and Nick’s Patio. Susie enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly watching sports activities. She volunteered with Toys for Tots as well as at her children’s schools.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, where friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, February 23, 2015, as well as one hour prior to mass on Tuesday. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
