Tamakia Johnson Obituary

Tamakia D. Johnson, affectionately known as Tamakia to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at the age of 41. Born on March 12, 1984, in Niles, Michigan, she was a beacon of light and joy in the lives of her family and friends. Tamakia's warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.

Tamakia was the beloved daughter of Craig McMorris Sr. and Mary Johnson. She was a devoted mother to her five children, Tyrionna, Antrunae, Ah'Niyah, Jarrell, and Jermoni Johnson, who were the center of her universe. Her love and guidance will live on through them and her cherished grandchildren, True, Amir, and Aurora Napier. Tamakia was also a loving sister to Khamilah McMorris, Tacuma McMorris Jr., Crystal Matlock and Craig McMorris Jr., and her presence in their lives will be profoundly missed.

Throughout her life, Tamakia found joy in her work as a bartender and in the food service industry. Her infectious smile and ability to make anyone feel welcome made her a favorite among her regulars and colleagues alike. She was known for her quick wit, her ability to listen, and her genuine interest in the lives of those she served.

Tamakia's passions extended beyond her professional life. She was an avid swimmer, finding peace and solitude in the water. Her love for swimming was only surpassed by the time she spent with her family. She was the heart of family gatherings, and her absence will leave a void that cannot be filled. Tamakia's laughter, her love for storytelling, and her unwavering support for her children and siblings were the glue that held her family together.

As we say goodbye to Tamakia, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. She taught us the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy that can be found in the simple pleasures of life. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.

Tamakia's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the human spirit. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Her memory will be treasured in our hearts forever, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she loved.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Tamakia D. Johnson will be profoundly missed, but the memories she created will be cherished for eternity. Rest in peace, dear Tamakia; you have left this world far richer than you found it
