Terri Lawson Obituary

Terri Jean (Elder) Lawson, age 66, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on June 22, 2026. She was born on August 10, 1959, in LaPorte, Indiana, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her profession, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

Terri was the beloved daughter of the late Carl Elder and the late Birdie (McIntosh) Elder. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Sandy Cauffman and Pat Elder, and her brother, Randy Elder. Those who knew Terri will remember her as a loving and steady presence, someone who carried herself with quiet strength and a warm heart.

She graduated from LaPorte High School with the class of 1977 and later attended college, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Terri dedicated more than 20 years of her life to nursing as an LPN, serving others with compassion, patience, and care. Her work reflected the kindness she showed so naturally in everyday life, and she was respected for the comfort and support she gave to those in her care.

Terri was a devoted mother to her children, John (Christina) Lawson Jr. and Christopher (Patricia) Lawson, and Tera Lynn Lawson. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Christopher II, Grace, Hezekiah, Antonio, Christopher, Gabbriella, Julianna, Breyanne, Jason, Angela, and Lilly, and great grandchildren Emiliano, Gianna, Sophia, and Marley. Her grandchildren brought her great joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She loved being part of their lives and found happiness in watching them grow.

In her free time, Terri enjoyed thrift shopping and always appreciated the excitement of finding something special. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, making memories that will be cherished by her family for years to come. Her dogs held a special place in her heart as well, and she found comfort and companionship in their loyal presence.

After high school, she got a 1959 Pontiac G.T.O. and it became her all time favorite car.  She was also generous, social, intelligent and very strong.  She loved taking her kids to Pine Lake in LaPorte for us to swim and riding on her sister Pats' boat.  We had a lot of fun and made wonderful memories together.

At this time, according to Terri’s wishes there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is honored to be assisting the family with final arrangements. Please leave condolences for the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
