Terry Freyer Obituary

Terry M. Freyer, 72, passed away in his South Bend home at 1:12am on Saturday, June 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on June 17, 1953, in Niles, Michigan, Terry was the son of Michael Freyer and Ruth (Weber) Hubert. He went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from Bethel University and dedicated 40 years of his professional life as an IT Specialist at 1st Source Bank. On July 15, 2005, he wed the love of his life, Patricia (Legge), with whom he shared over two decades of beautiful memories and adventures.

Terry was a man of many passions. An avid Harley-Davidson motorcyclist, he and Patricia took many memorable trips together, exploring beautiful destinations like Sturgis, MI. Canada, and the Smokey Mountains. He was a member of the 1st Source Bank riding group, and they often rode to various destinations for a Burger and a Beer. He loved the game of golf, playing in the 1st Source Men’s Golf League for over 30 years. Deeply rooted in his faith, Terry was a 3rd Degree and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, frequently participated in Bible studies and the Into the Breach series, with his brother Knights. He had an enduring love for learning and reading. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Terry often said that he was deeply grateful for the love and wonderful care provided by Trisha especially during his illness.

Terry often recalled the memory of all the joyful times he spent with his family growing up when they went to his grandma’s home for summertime visits. Above all, Terry always cherished his family. His grandchildren were truly the apples of his eye. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Freyer of South Bend; his daughter, Alissa (Josh) O'Hara of South Bend; his stepdaughters, Christina (Kelly) Fisher of Knox, IN, and Jessica (Rob) Chalk of Syracuse, IN; his two step-grandchildren, Liam Chalk and Cabreia Chalk; his sister, Tonna Jo Hisey of Marble Falls, TX; his brother, Timothy (Susie) Freyer of Dallas, TX; as well as many loving, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
