Theresa A. Hodgson

Theresa A. Hodgson, 64, Mishawaka, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at Brickyard in Mishawaka on March 11, 2024. She was born April 27, 1959, in Mishawaka to Aloysius and Katherine (O'Neil) Scheibelhut. She attended Mishawaka High School. On October 1, 1991, she married Steve Hodgson; he survives.

She became a mother on March 2, 1988, to her only child Nicholette "Nikki" (Tyler Stout) Carlson; she survives. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Pierce, Lilly and Thea; and three step-grandchildren: Lana, Oren and Bryn. One of Theresa's greatest joys in life was being a mother and grandmother.

She spent much of her working life in the food industry and volunteered for years at the local food pantry before fully retiring. She loved animals, especially cats, and always had a pet cat by her side. She enjoyed playing guitar in her youth, watching kids put on dances and was always willing to sit and play when asked.

Also surviving are seven sisters: Patricia Bragg, Margaret (Tom) O'Connor, Catherine Hull, Joan Scheibelhut, Jane Scheibelhut, Jean Cook and Mary Yadak.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Scheibelhut; and two grandchildren, Scarlett Grace and Robin Parker.

Arrangements are being handled by Palmer Funeral Home - Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at 4 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. Cremation will follow, and she will be interred at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
