Theresa R. Mesaros

Theresa R. Mesaros, 96, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 12:25am on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in Tanglewood Assisted Living Center in Mishawaka, IN, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 2, 1922 in Fort Rice, ND, to Frank and Mary Steinhofer, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her brothers, Frank, John and Joseph; sister, Mary; and son-in-law, John McGrath.

On June 28, 1947, Theresa married Robert E. Mesaros, who also preceded her in death on November 30, 2003. She is survived by a daughter, Marlene (Jim Otis) McGrath of Edwardsburg, MI; three sons, Robert D. (Karen) Mesaros and Ronald D. (Char Kikly) Mesaros, both of South Bend, and Richard D. (Sheri) Mesaros of Granger. Additionally, Theresa is survived by seven grandchildren, Melissa (Dave) Dreibelbeis, Bill (April) McGrath, Matthew (Dani) Mesaros, Mila (Derrick) Jones, Ben (Sarah) Mesaros, Brandi Mesaros and Brooke Mesaros; five great-grandchildren, Allison Dreibelbeis, Ella Jones, Owen Jones, Garrett Jones and Charli Mesaros; one sister, Amelia Dorn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Theresa was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she cherished her faith with God in the Catholic Church, being a longtime member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Theresa retired from Holy Cross House in Notre Dame, IN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2320 E. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00-8:00pm on Monday, August 20, 2018 in the Palmer Funeral Home ~ Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30pm. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am prior to mass on Tuesday in the church.

In addition to flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Theresa may be donated to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
