Theresa M. Wibbens

Theresa M. Wibbens, 96, of South Bend passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Center for Hospice surrounded by her loving family.  She was born September 1, 1923 in Plati, Italy to the late Joseph and Marian (Zirilli) Catanzarite.  On June 29, 1946 in South Bend, she married Virgil J. Wibbens, who preceded her in death on April 13, 2012.

Theresa is survived by her daughter, Dr. Cheryl (Dr. Neil) Wibbens-Lesh; son, John (Tess) Wibbens; seven grandchildren, Erin (Jim) Wibbens-Zito, Melissa (Ty) Wibbens-Bell, Zachary (Kaitlyn) Lesh, Andrew Lesh, Christopher Lesh, Alexandra Lesh and Brady Lesh; four great-grandchildren, Dominic, Malina, Cecelia, and Teagan; and two brothers, Dominick (Charlene) Catanzarite and Joseph Catanzarite.  In addition to her husband and parents, Theresa is preceded by her sister, Catherine Catanzarite; and brother, Pat Catanzarite.

Theresa was a homemaker and volunteer at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.  She was a former parishioner at St. Jude’s Catholic Church.  Theresa’s greatest joy was helping to care for her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 29 at 6:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family at the funeral from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.  Private family burial will take place at a later date at Southlawn Cemetery.
