Timothy McKee Obituary

Timothy Carlton McKee, 77, originally of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on October 13, 2021 after a brief battle with pneumonia.  Tim was born on March 9, 1944 in South Bend to loving parents Glenn Richard McKee and Laura Louise McKee (Niven).  Tim was raised alongside his cherished younger siblings, Sue and Danny.  Tim served proudly in the USMC, on active duty and active reserves, from 1961-1968.  Tim attended Indiana University - Bloomington, earning a B.S. in Economics, MBA in Finance, and JD.  Tim worked for Peat Marwick in Chicago while completing a LL.M in Taxation from DePaul.  Tim transferred to Norfolk, Virginia and began a new career in education at Old Dominion University shortly thereafter.  During his time at ODU, he earned tenure, the high distinction of University Professor, and the honorary Associate Professor Emeritus upon his retirement in 2010.

Tim was an extrovert with seemingly bottomless charisma.  Tim thoroughly loved his friends, family, and life in general.  Tim was always fond of his early adventures, including a spur-of-the moment trip to Mardi Gras with fraternity brothers from Kappa Delta Rho, and numerous road trips to California to visit beloved friends, including a trip to Los Angeles in 1967 to watch Indiana battle USC in the Rose Bowl.  Later in life, Tim preferred to spend time with family, coaching his son’s little league teams, and travelling to Busch Gardens Amusement Park, Civil War battlefields, Hilton Head, SC, and Orlando, FL.  Tim had a passion for learning, especially history, and loved watching documentaries and movies.  He had an impact on thousands, from his family to friends to the students he helped educate.  He will be greatly missed.

Tim is survived by his son Brandon McKee, sister Sue Horvath (Jim), brother Danny McKee (Christie), their children, grandchildren, and significant others, nephew Rob Bennett (Niki), their children Elisabeth, Brian, and Brady, niece Laura Bennett, step-daughter Krista Mackintire (Butch), step-granddaughter Kaelin Mackintire, former spouse Linda Greer, numerous extended family, and many friends.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Laura McKee, and nephew Ezekiel Spear.
